Hello,
i have the crosshair V formula sabertooth mobo and it takes forever to post sometimes like almost 5 minutes. and answers on how to speed this process up. the boot_device_led takes the longest to go out

the mobo came with kaspersky antivirus 2011. i am going to open the case back up and try diconnecting everything except the cpu,memory and video card and see what happens. i will report the results after im done.

its not windows that i am having an issue with its the motherboard posting that takes forever, before it ever gets to that point. also its a new build with 16 gb of corsair vengance memory and a evga geforce 550 ti video card
1000 watt power supply

had the same issue on a laptop for long booting time and the internet part search for a network and scan system all the time

ok so i disconnected the hdd, and all the case wires, usb,switches,and audio and clr the cmos and then rebooted and post took only about 15 to 20 seconds and tried to boot to windows in under a minute. so then i reconnected the hdd, the optical drives ( two of them ) the case switches and the audio but not the usb cables for the case and same thing posted in about 15 to 20 seconds, and booted up and running in about a minute and a half and was on the web. so i pinpointed the problem to the usb case wires. when they are connected to the mobo the post times are in the two to three minutes range with the computer being booted up and fully running in about 5 minutes confused???????????
could that be a bios problem? could the bios be confused on what device to boot from? i went into the bios and specified the hard drive with windows to boot first. i have a 1 terabyte segate sata drive with 3 partions on it 1st partion is 100 gigs for the os. and the other two are for storage both are about 450 gigs.
dont know what else to do. maybe i should contact asus
any answers

I had this problem with my really old motherboard. When I had my USB headphones plugged in, it would take forever to boot.
Changed motherboards, never experienced it again

yes i contacted asus tech support and they said to RMA the board so i am sending it back

ok since i last wrote about this board, i recently sent it back to newegg for a refund. my new question is now im in the market for a new mobo. i am torn between two asus models

1st one is the crosshair V formula

2nd one is the asus sabertooth

the big difference for me is the firewire support and thats only available on the sabertooth model which i do own a hdd enclosure with firewire support also. my big question is to you guys is which one do you think is a better board?
and on another note the crosshair has 4 usb 3.0 and sabertooth only has 2
and my case has one firewire port on it also.

just looking for some expert opinions

i have been pondering that myself but was unsure of that board thats why i was seeking some advice. i think thats a great board too like i said i have a hdd enclosure that supports firewire but the transfer time is not that fast and i think thats because its a ide hdd inside but that same hdd also supports usb 2.0 some im thinking it might be faster through usb 2.0 and i could always get a pci card that has more usb 3.0 on it if i need more in the future.

one last question which one of those two boards is more ready for future upgrades?

i am still unsure which one i want to buy. they are both great boards. im not much of a gamer but i like to play a little here and there. for the most part i am just trying to plan ahead i dont want to have to buy another board again for a couple of years.

any suggestions
