Long range antenna to hotspot, can it be done?

I am going to buy an antenna, Alfa wireless adapter and all the other stuff to go with it. I was wondering if I could plug the Alfa straight into a usb hotspot?

Its a N150 router ($21 on eBay). A hotspot is an area where you can pick up wifi.

Which of the Alfa wireless adapters you looking at?

It might be easier just getting a better router.

I have a flat out the back of my parent and I cant reach the wifi so i went looking and saw all about it. Ive seen they hook an antenna up to the Alfa then to a computer through usb. So i though i could plug the usb into a hotspot. would that work? and ive also seen them getting wireless repeater and doing the same, would that cut out the Alfa?

It should work. It costs more than the router you've got.

If it was me, I would get a better router and see if I still needed an external wifi card.

How far away from the router are you? Are there walls, floor or doors between you and the router?

its fair far maybe 300 meters. Ive seen like antennas that can go for km's.
only a few trees..
so would it be better to get a repeater or stick with what ive got?

Gee - 300m! Usually routers and wifi only work over about 50m. That distance I'd have thought you'd need both a good antenna wifi card and a good transmitting router.

Can you borrow your parent's Alpha and try it?

ive seen them doing it from house to their local jobs a few km away...
I have been looking at a 24dbi antenna that would be plenty i know that much but i dont know what to connect it to..
