Long-term computer storage

I won't be turning on my PC for the next 6 weeks (traveling). Anything I can or should do for the good of my components? Or just a trashbag over the entire case to prevent dust?

I would just let it sit. a trashbag could make static when you put it on, and while it should be unable to shock anything static and PCs does not mix. cotton blankets or towels could work. other than that just turn it off, and you are good to go.

For 6 weeks, not worth doing anything special really. If your machine is normally on 24/7 then a power cycle will expose any issues. But in general, make sure you have backed up (but you would always have one anyway).. and turn off power at the plug (make sure you BIOs battery is not old.. unless really old it should last 6 weeks easily)
Hope for best when you turn on after your 6 weeks.

I would leave it plugged in why test a CMOS battery? if it manages to start its self then I think we were never safe.

I know full H&S say you should turn off at plug at end of every day.. which is complete OTT (IMHO)
But for 6 weeks.. you probably should.

well I sort of made an incomplete sentence. I meant that if the computer can boot its self, then they are becoming sentient and we need to watch out. it was a poor attempt at a joke.
