So, since i've built my PC in 2020 i've been getting the first freezes after like 3 months. I didn't give it much attention since they happened really rarely. In 2021 i have changed both the motherboard and CPU since the first one completely fried beacuse of a really stupid error I did while changing the liquid cpu cooler (i've put the rgb connector the wrong side 😛). So i tought maybe that would have fixed the problem but no, it still kept freezing every now an then. I don't remember correctly now but like in November and December 2022 and January and February 2023 absolutely no freezes nor crashes happened, so i tought maybe a Windows or GPU Drivers update fixed the issue, but again a month after the freezes appeared again. Since then they have been more frequent to the point the i couldn't even play a game for more then 2 minutes, and also the PC crashed while i was using apps like Discord and even browsing on the internet or watching something on Netflix. At this point I was really tired so i've decided to start a long journey on trying to find the issue. The event viewer always showed Kernel Power error 41 (63) and while searching this problem on some threads with also cases similar to mine, I've found most of the people suggested to change the PSU, but before that I've tested the RAM with Memtest and there were no problems with them, so I changed the PSU. 20 days with no problems, I've did every kind of test with OCCT, games, apps and nothing, I've finally fixed the problem right? Day 21, another crash, I swear I wanted to destroy the entire PC. Now, after learning how to read crash dumps I've come across 3 things.
1) One of the Logitech drivers from the GHUB app was shown as the cause of the crashes, app and drivers GONE.
2) It seems it doesn't crash on other apps and stress tests anymore (OCCT)
3)Now all of the crash dumps say that the cause is either the nvlddmkm.sys nvidia driver or ntkrnlmp.exe which seems to be related to the operating sistem
Some people said to change the privacy settings under the nvlddmkm.sys driver but that did nothing.
I also updated the BIOS and chipset drivers.
Now a recap:
-PC freezes in game or right after i close it with a static sound, automatically reboots most of the times and rarely I have to reset it myself, meanwhile I can feel the controller vibration responding to what i do for like 20 seconds. No BSOD, doesn't crash in something non-game related(?)
-not related to temperature
What i've done:
-changed Motherboard
-changed CPU
-changed PSU
-all types of fixes i've found online
-memtest, nothing
-GPU drivers reset with DDU, new BIOS and chipset drivers
-GPU underclock, uneffective
What I've not changed:
-RAM
-GPU
-Old SSD (i have a new one with windows installed on it)
What remains to try:
-Really soon I'll swap my GPU with my friend's to see if that's the problem, which I REALLY hope cus at this point I don't care if I have to spend a ton of money for a new GPU I just want to fix this damn problem
-Windows clean install (?)
I really don't know at this point, maybe I'm just unlucky and either the new PSU is defective or the motherboard is (probably the PCIe slot), also don't think it's the CPU due to nothing that makes me think that's the issue.
If someone needs the dumps let me know i'll post them under here.
