Hi all,

I tried running Longbow 2 without success. I used all the patches but
nothing was for modern video cards. Anybody have an idea?

Thanks

You can start here..
http://www.speichts.com/games/lb2.htm

I was never able to get it to run successfully on XP pro.

Can you describe your hardware setup?
Describe how you've patched and tweaked it?

Yeah, neither was I unfortunately - I loved that sim.

Do you have EECH?

With the incredible user mods out, it is a very good helo sim, even has
trackir support also.
Once I exhausted my efforts at getting LB2 to run, I downloaded the mods for
EECH, and until PF came out I was playing it a lot.

What video cards are you guys using?
LB2+XP works fine except with most cards (except Ti4200's).

Ehhh maybe you should check facts before posting? I have LB2
working fine on XP and using a GF4 Ti4200 and GlideWrapper.
Running it in 1280x960 with full FSAA it looks even better
than back in the days...

I'm happy that it's working on your machine but it's not working on mine.
Thanks to all who have tried to help me with this.

I posted based on personal experience CJ. So maybe I should have asked
first.
I spent days trying to get that to work on a Ti4200 using D3D mode. Now I
haven't tried it in a year, as that's in my
secondary system now. My primary system has a 9800Pro in it.

Very glad to hear it works using the Glide wrapper. Care to post your
install steps?

That is the procedure that I followed without success.

Hmm, sounds like you have a browser or name resolution issue.
Did you try doing an NSLOOKUP on the site?

Here's what I get.

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: speichts.com
Address: 24.224.145.179
Aliases: www.speichts.com

Try using the IP address instead. Site works fine for me.

No worries.

I'm using Zeckensacks GlideWrapper 0.78b and nVidia's 60.72 drivers.

Nothing special.

1. Installed LB 2

2. Patched to latest patch 2.09

3. Installed DDU patch (don't think this is needed
since LB2 is native Glide)

4. Selected Glide

5. Installed Zeckensacks GlideWrapper 0.78b

However I don't know how well/if Zeckensacks GlideWrapper works
on Radeon graphics cards...

It does, I have a 9800 Pro.

Lots of new developments over at SIMHQ.com helo forum. Relating to memory
issues that fixes even more systems.
PS - Anyone know how to get a hold of "Hatchet"?

Glad to hear that since I know 9800 is/was a popular card.

Agree, SimHQ's forum is a good source for LB 2 information.

He wasn't the only one who could not get this working. At best it looked
like it did when first released but was unstable, would lock up as soon as
possible, and had other problems. I eventually gave up and sold LB2 to a
friend.

His post gave the impression that it was "impossible" to run
Longbow 2 on a GF Ti4200 but since I have it running nicely
with Zeckensack's GlideWrapper 0.78 wanted to say it's not.

BTW, did you try with Zeckensack's GlideWrapper?

I've yet to hear of anyone having it work using the D3D method, I should
have qualified that in my statement.
Glide isn't a native API for these cards, so I wasn't too far off with my
statement, assuming standard setups.

Now with Glide wrappers it appears to work fine. In my experience using
the D3D method, users seem to hit a brick wall hard when it comes to these
cards.

I have this card, and trust me I tried on D3D.
