Look for a game like Rage

I have playing Rage for 7 years (2100 hours) and I have not found a game I like in 7 years I have been looking. All the games are like anime cartoons. Borderline 2 was a joke and a waste of my money, I'm a Doom fan from Doom 20 years ago and Doom 4 coming out next year is something I won't buy. If you look at Rage and then take a look at all the games they are coming out with? Maybe I'm just getting old and just don't like the anime cartoon style. So does anyone have a game that I might like because I don't mind buying a game and if it's no good it's ok but I would like to try a new game. 2100 hours on a game I think might be a bit much.

The closest game to Rage I've played is Mad Max. Many describe it as "What Rage should have been", minus the Mad Max story line of course. Pretty much everything about it is better than Rage. The world is bigger, the combat is better, the upgrade system is better, it has WAY better underground missions, with lots of atmosphere, and everything to do with the vehicles is loads better. Better races, better upgrades, better weapons, more fleshed out vehicle combat, etc, etc.

Bottom line, I doubt you'll find anything closer to Rage than Mad Max, other than Rage 2, which won't be out until next year. The only thing I can imagine you maybe not liking is the combat is not pure shooter oriented. You have a harpoon, sniper rifle and shotgun, but...

The other 2 are used in the vehicle. It's awesome once you upgrade to the explosive tipped "Thunderpoons" though.

Another thing Mad Max blows away Rage with is the weather effects, of which Rage has none due to Megatextures. Mad Max has some pretty incredible nuclear wasteland sand/electrical storms. Such storms also result in an opportunity to find special scrap crates tumbling across the wasteland that show on your minimap, which are worth a lot of scrap toward upgrades.
