looking at motherboard upgrade options

i currently am running a r9 380x gpu and an a8-3870 cpu and i was considering maybe upgrading my processor as its getting quite old.

with this processor upgrade what companys make the most reliable motherboards.

also is it possible that my pc is bottle necking at my current cpu and if i did upgrade would it be wise to go for something related to the i5-6600 or should i save my money and buy something better?

As far as I know just about everyone (Asus, MSI, Gigabyte) makes good motherboards, best way to tell if a motherboard is reliable is look up review for it. Also it is likely that you are bottlenecking currently, and i think something like the i5-6500 or i5-7500 would be a great choice.

ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI are pretty dependable companies. Most of the systems I've built were using ASUS boards, always very pleased. I've also built quite a few Gigabyte systems, also pleased. I have less experience with MSI, but they haven't let me down.

On the other hand, I'll never buy Biostar or Foxconn again. Very bad experiences. I've heard nothing but bad things about ECS. I'm interested in building an ASRock system, but I've heard mixed things throughout the years.

In short, ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, pretty solid choices. Stray from these brands at your own risk.
