Hello, Im buying an asus maximus formula MB. I want to put in 4gb of memory. 2x2 preferabbly so when i go to vista 64 i can put in 8gb of memory. I havent seen any 2x2gb kits at 800mhz. just 533mhz. I probably wont overclocck the memory, just the processor, but I still want good ram. price isnt much of an issue unless its crazy.
I see crucial 4x1 with great timings but then im capped at 4gb.
if anyone knows of a good kit for this board please let me know. if im thinking the wrong way on this please let me know also.
thanks

am I better off with a 1000mhz kit as opposed to 800? better for potential OC'ing. I will be using a q6600 chip with the MB.
I am just learning this stuff, seems like I have a lot to learn lol

The chip you're using won't be too picky about memory speed anyway, so, it really just depends on how far you inted to overclock it and on what board. The DDR2-800 kit I listed will do alright in most reasonable systems and if you are just starting out with overclocking should be all you really need, anyway. I'm not into the Intel overclocking scene, so, I'm not the best guy to ask, but, DDR2-1000 seems overkill for anything under 3.2ghz on the Q6600.

migth be overkill but it is $10 cheaper, and if it is better seems like a no brainer. Ill be using the maximus formula x38 board. I plan to overclock it after ive used it for while.

do you think I can air-cool it to 3.2ghz or should I go for water/glycol. different topic I know but I havent decided yet on which way.
thanks for all of your insight
