Hi guys,
I have a Gigabyte EP-45 DS5 mobo, Q6600 cpu and 6GB of RAM. I need more RAM and 8 gigs probably won't make much difference so I'm looking higher.
So I was looking for 4x4 gig sets of DDR2 but all I can find is ECC memory for servers which (I presume) won't work in my mobo. Gigabyte lists only one 4GB model as supported fro the mobo - Winchip 64C0MFTHE8G17C.
But this mem is not available anywhere, plus I'm also a bit wary of the brand since I've been using Corsair since forever. But like I said I can't find any other non-server 4GB sticks.
I can't afford to build a new DDR3-based PC right now and the Q6600 performance is completely sufficient for me, I just need more RAM.
Are there any other 4GB DDR2 sticks for non-servers? Could any of the server mems work? Or is there a way to get that Winchip mem? (I also emailed them already and waiting for a reply.)
Any advice much appreciated.
