Looking for a 1080p Gaming Monitor

Hello, with Christmas around the corner as well as my birthday, I was interested in finally spending some more money on my PC and getting my hands on a gaming monitor.
There are so many monitors out there classified as "Gaming" monitors a lot in which have very similar specifications but can be over $100 different in price.
So I am here hoping I can get some suggestions on a good 144hz 1080p gaming monitor based on what the community knows. Only thing is I would like to not go too far over $300, anything less is even better.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Which size ?

24", i'd get either a LG 24gm77-b or a BenQ XL2411z (or XL2420z if you need displayport compatibility and/or usb ports on your monitor). The reviews are in favor of the LG for its better contrast and colors, but it has a 1yr warranty instead of 3yr for the benq. Some people will suggest the asus vg248qe, but i'd stay away from it since it uses PWM (it's not a "flicker-free" monitor)

27", the BenQ [strike]XL2420z[/strike] XL2720z. But it's a bit over your budget.

Perfect, I was looking for one just about that size of 24". I will probably go with the the LG if possible or if not the BenQ XL2411z that you also mentioned.
