Hey

So basically, like the title says, I'm looking for a monitor. Here's what I want:

Price: $150, give or take ~$40
Size: ~19"-23"
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Response time: 5ms or less preferred
Backlight type: LED preferred (better dynamic contrast ratio)
Intended use (in order of importance): Gaming, coding, web browsing, MS Office-related stuff
Widescreen: yes
Viewing Angle: The more, the merrier. Would be nice to have 120 degrees vertical and horizontal, but not really necessary
Color accuracy: As long as the colors are reasonable, I'm good with it. Some granularity of control over the colors would be preferred, but not necessary

Anyways, the one that looks tempting is the ASUS VE228H:

Anyone have any thoughts/opinions on this?

Thanks in advance

There aren't too many displays you can find for $160 USD or less that are sized 21-inches or greater with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, come from a well-respected hardware vendor, utilize an LED-backlight panel, and offer HDMI video input.

The ASUS VE228H manages to successfully fill this area.

It may not be a bad idea of holding back your purchase for a little bid of time. I realize that ips lcd monitor pricing is coming down. It is always good to have ips as a gaming monitor.

@Nikorr thanks for the input

@asye288. Don't IPS monitors tend to sacrifice response time for color clarity and viewing angle? (Albeit a small sacrifice for a decent gain). What's the supposed timeframe for that?
