I am looking for a hardrive inclosure that would fit in the 3.5 inch hardrive bay that is hot swappable . What do you suggest? It should be able to hold a 2.5 inch hardrive and 3.5 inch hardrive. Also has fans for cooling. Not one that fits in a front 5.25inch bay.

Thank-you!

I have two laptop drives 2.5
one ssd
and three 3.5 inch hardrives.

Considering that a 3.5" bay barely has room for a 3.5" drive, you would have a hard time wrapping an enclosure around a 3.5" drive and then putting it in the bay. I suggest that you get something like an Icy Dock instead, or use a 5.25" bay. The Icy Dock will attach to an eSATA port (use a real one) and hold either-size drive.

I have two hot swap bays in my PC for 3.5" drives, but they fit into 5.25" bays. Yes, I know that that is not what you want. I'm just saying that you may have trouble finding one. You would have to get a case that is built for this purpose in the first place.

Your post makes me think of songs. "Sittin' on the dock of the bay" and the Twelve Days of Christmas:

3 3.5" harddrives
two laptop drives
and a 2.5" ssd

I have been happy with the Kingwin trayless line. Trayless is a must for me; I've got fourteen bare drives in my room, most of them in an anti-static case.

http://kingwin.com/products/cate/mobile/racks/kf_1000_bk.asp for one drive
http://kingwin.com/products/cate/mobile/racks/kf_3001_bk.asp will give you room for three with two 5.25" bays. Wish I had known this earlier, because I have two of the one-bay thingies.

I also have a 3.5" to 2 x 2.5" from them internally. I deliberately did not make it accessible from the outside, because my system disk is in it. Clearly, I'm a fanboy.
