Looking for a better computer

Hello, I am looking to upgrade from my current dell 420 xps to a better computer. This computer needs to have fast internet connection and at least 8 gb of ram. I will be using this computer for surfing the internet, publishing adobe after effects projects and mainly gaming. I would like it to have a very good graphics card which can handle large online multiplayer video games at high fps.(I do not care what company makes it as long as it is not apple) My budget is about $1500 dollars. Does anyone have a suggestion on a good top of the line desktop?(I realize this might not be in the right cateogory, if i put it in the wrong place i am sorry)

You will get MUCH MORE bang for your buck if you build a computer vs. buy a prebuilt.

should suit your needs just fine. I'm assuming you need an OS and you also are not overclocking. If you want to save money or give your computer more goodies, you can part out your old computer and get more HDD space and an optical drive.

Well, the i5 is a great gaming processor. Having an i7 does nothing for gaming performance really.

And I'm just assuming that since the user has a Dell currently that he has no interest in overclocking, so there is not really any need for one of the "K" models.

Thanks so much. Yes I do need a new OS (I have vista which sucks) and no I don't need overclocking. This looks like a nice build which will meet my needs and for really cheap compared to a pre-built computer. I will get right on getting the parts and then on to building it which shouldn't be too hard. Thanks for all the great advice!!!
