Looking for a BF3 monitor

Looking to upgrade my monitor to play Bf3 with. I'm trying to keep the price below 500 if possible. Any suggestions? Also, would it be worth to look at 3d?

I see a lot of the test's that they do are in 1920 x 1200, is that a big difference over the 1920 x 1080. I know its just 120 more rows of pixels.

1200 has about 11% more pixels than 1080.

Just grab up a nice monitor that shows 1920x1080, a good refresh rate, and a good price. Make sure it is a good brand as well. The monitor that guy up there posted, i would not get. Now, if you have a rig that will run a Nvidia 3d setup and are willing to purchase the 3D setup itself, then be my guest. Otherwise, that monitor is not worth the money spent. 3D gaming is nowhere near up to speed. Majority games released are still having SLI/Crossfire issues.

What are running for your GPU(s)?
What monitor do you have? You could buy two more if you are running dual/tri cards 😛

I ran three monitors for a while. Got rid of one cause they were all diff sizes. It worked for the most part and was pretty sweet!

Right now, a GTX 260+ Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3. That is also getting an upgrade here in the next few weeks. Right now my thinking is either dual 460's or dual 560's in SLI.

If your processor can handle it and if your current monitor is adequate, upgrade to the 560 Ti sli's or just plain 560 sli's.

Or just get 1 560 Ti and a new monitor for now. Then you can add another card later. 500 bucks should get you both.

I am not going to look for you, cause you can do it yourself. But MSI gts 560 ti twin frozr ii's are around $250 i think. The other $250 you have can buy you a quality monitor.

Processor is i7-920 2.66, so don't see why i couldn't handle 560. I did have a question as to how much power would be needed for sli 560's. currently running sigma 1000w

1000 watt is more than enough. If i were to buy a new PSU i would shoot for 800-850 good/great quality brand to run 560 ti sli setup.

If you choose SLI in th 460/560 range, make sure you have enough 6pin cables.

Yea, i had sli in mind when i bought it. it came with 3 6pin and a 6+2 pin. but right now i have a monitor with max res. of 1280 x 1024. and some how I feel having two 560's on this monitor just wouldn't quite be worth it. 😀

Well, gigabyte has a less expensive GTX 560 ti card. you can always go for the plain 560 card. Asus has great monitors for under 200 that can handle 1920x1080.

The size of the monitor doesnt mat.... well i should say that. The resolution is the important aspect. The bigger the monitor the, the more your eyes have to look at.

A 23in LCD monitor @ 1920x1080 is graphically equal to a 27in LCD monitor @ 1920x1080. The only difference is how much more your eye's will work with a larger screen.

Go read the toms hardware sli write up, and then never buy an sli configuration.

The only way to go for BF3 would be a 120hz monitor. I just bought the benq xl2410t, however I heard the alienware is also good as well. Once you go 120hz, you'll never want a 60hz monitor again.

Lol, in due time. The price is still on the high end. I understand the game will look and run more crisp if you have the graphics capabilities to output to the monitor.

I have the following specs:

ASUS Z68 VPRO Motherboard
16GB Corsair DDR3 RAM
1 GTX 460 1 GB
TX750 W PSU

Question is this...for BF3, should I upgrade my monitor to 1920 x 1080 or get another GTX 460 for SLI and just roll with the current monitor that I have ( An LG that is 1440 x 900)? I've got about $170 at my disposal right now, which is why I ask the question...it's one or the other right now. Any help would be appreciated.
