Hi everyone. I'm helping my buddy out with looking for a budget gaming AMD processor that can handle things like PS2, PSP & GameCube emulators, and some of the latest games. He doesn't have a lot of money to spend. So if there's any suggestions then I'm all ears. Thank you in advance. Also, he doesn't have the money to buy a video card so he'll be using onboard video for the time being.

NO DONT GET THE AMD FX 6300! It is a great budget CPU, but DOES NOT have integrated graphics. To play modern games, you need to have dedicated graphics. None of the FX series has integrated graphics also. IDK what system requirements you need for emulators, but they may require having a good gpu as well. Can you say a budget you have so we can help you build one? Or if you already have the mobo and other parts, your screwed lol.
I suggest getting this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117543. If you plan on just using integrated graphics, get this. It may be able to handle SOME of the latest games on the LOWEST settings, and even then probably not. If your building the computer from scratch, please say a budget you have.

Even a 60$ GPU is better than every integrated graphics card... So you can buy the cheap fx 6300 and safe a little bit for a gpu.
But if you are on a so thight budged and you definitely want an amd cpu you can go with A10-7850K . This is the best amd APU IMO and costs only 125$

PS2 and Gamecube emulation require really high single threaded performance, so AMD isn't the best choice for those, and the people making the emulators would recommend an Intel CPU. As said above, the FX CPUs aren't an option as they don't have integrated graphics, some AM3+ boards do have an integrated graphics chip, but it is really weak and not really fit for any sort of gaming.

The AMD A10 APU has the best integrated graphics available at a cheap price point, but its CPU performance isn't anything to write home about. It will be okay for most games, though you really would need a dedicated graphics card to play modern titles well. Emulation performance would also suffer due to AMD's cores being about 40% slower than Intel's.

What is the total budget he has, and what sort of newer games is he interested in playing? If it's really low, like $300 and he wants to play Witcher 3 for example, then there probably isn't much he can do without saving up more money unless he wants to start looking at used hardware.

Nvm guys. He's not gonna build a PC at the moment. =. He changes his mind so frickin' much. Sometimes wanna strangle him for that. He wasted all my time yesterday and the day before searching up on the internet for parts, prices and such. Sorry for wasting your guy's time.
