if you want pure performance and don't care about dx 11, then you would want to go with an hd 4850, a gts 250 or is your little more concerned about heat an power then the 4770 would be a good option

Might get this one, but just read a review that this card's fan is not durable.

Whats your monitor resolution?
In most cases, the GDDR5 version should be far better.

1680 x 1050 most of the time. Sometimes I use it at 1024 x 768

DDR5 is definitely faster than DDR3, But here the resolution matters because the higher it is, the more Vram you need for AA and loading textures.

So for example, @1650*1050 the difference between a 512MB and 1GB card would be close to nothing, but if you go up to 2560*1600, a game might not even run with a 512MB card while it runs fine on a 1GB.

In your case go with the 512MB DDR5, especially as you also game at 1024*768.
