Hey guys, looking at pretty much building from scratch for a friend. Any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated seeing as I'm not great with picking out parts.

Approximate Purchase Date: August 10th

Budget Range: $1200 after shipping is the maximum. Anything less would be nice.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Schoolwork, Digital Art, Internet Browsing

Are you buying a monitor: Not priority. Only if there's enough room for the budget.

Parts to Upgrade: Fresh build.

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Tiger Direct, newegg.ca, ncix.

Location: Newfoundland, Canada

Parts Preferences: I'm more familiar with Intel and nVidia, but am open to AMD/Radeon if the quality is there for a better price.

Overclocking: Preferably not any time soon.

SLI or Crossfire: See above.

Your Monitor Resolution: Don't know what will be used for monitor right now. 1920x1080 would be ideal.

Additional Comments: Case needs to look nice, but function is priority. Was looking at the Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
, but I'm open to other suggestions.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: This build is for a friend of mine. He's looking to get into PC Gaming, and is also heading to college come September. He's looking to upgrade from his crappy laptop, but keep the laptop around for when he needs something more mobile.

Also, I was looking around at processors when I found the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition. It looks like a good processor for the price, but it seems too good to be true, so I feel like I'm missing something important.

Thanks in advance for all replies, and feel free to ask for more info if I've forgotten anything!
