Intel i5 3570k and 7870 tahiti LE just because intels are generally chosen over AMD's over gaming. Id try finding a better gpu if I was you

If you have no limitations over money,
the i5 3570k and a 7950/7970/670/680 (best to bestest).

The AMD 8350/7950 is the more hybrid build, best of both worlds when it comes to multithreading and heavy gaming. But as I always say, a pure gamer will get the best -current- gaming performance from the setup above.

so i should go with i5 3570k and 7950?
you have a 8350 and 7950 . how is your gaming experience , with the new games like crysis 3, tomb raider and far cry 3? i hear these games like more cores.

My gaming experience is very acceptable. I can play Crysis 3 on Very High Quality, though everyone knowing how intense that game is, I settle for an average of 35-40 fps maxed out on a 1600x1080p 23" (4xmsaa). Knock it to High, I average 40-50.
Crysis 3 during gameplay will "idle" to 4 cores when nothing intensive is going on.

Right as I start into an intense scene, load can shoot up to 50%, and I can see at least 5-7 cores being accessed at one time. So yes, I would say Crysis 3 is one of those games that takes advantage of 4+ cores.
Far Cry 3 I average around 50+ on that game, spikes hitting low 40s.

Don't play Tomb Raider, but it's recommended requirements do look quite low (i5 750/gtx480). In terms of intensity, that game I imagine is quite low and my computer would play it without a hiccup. You had me curious for that game, so i searched for the bench. http://www.techspot.com/review/645-tomb-raider-performance/page3.html

All around, I got the 8350 because I'm a code compiler and video editor and a heavy gamer. But I'm VERY interested also to see if more games will take advantage of 6/8 cores and optimize it in the near future.
But yes, i'd go i5, setting yourself for an easy pathway to an i7 in the future.

I would go with this probably as well since the 7870 tahiti LE is almost as fast as a 7950 and an i5 3570k is superior in games.

im still confused . I just dont want to waste more money on an i5 if future games will be optimized for more cores. and this system will be with me for a long 3-4 years so i cant even upgrade to an i7 bcoz by that time it will become obsolete. Since the ps4 will be released in Q4 2013 i cant even wait to see which cpu will the game ports favour more.

If you want to have an upgrade path just to have one. The FX does have a new proc coming next year for the AM3+ socket. How significant it will be remains to be seen.

I have both an intel and FX rig. While their GPU's are different, the experiences in games between the both are not really noticeable except in an older game like WoW where I can feel minimum frame rates from time to time with the FX.

It is all very hypothetical on my part, but seeing as the PS4 and next Xbox will be running AMD hardware with 8 cores. This will naturally encourage game developers to use as many cores as possible when making the next console games. So there is that to consider as well. Again, to what degree remains to be seen. But very plausible.

I would say FX and best GPU you can afford. Cheers.
