I recently just did this build:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1fmLQ

And I am currently looking for a display that will suit my needs. I am currently hooked up to a 32inch LG HDTV, but it is sort of old, and only has support for 720p, which actually looks horrible to me.

What I need it to have:
- HDMI input
- 1080p( or 1080i I will accept)
- Affordable ($100-$200, may increase)
- Not sure on the size. I think 32" is HUGE for gaming. What sizes do you suggest?

Thanks for any help you guys can give!

I can probably swing the Asus VS239H-P. Is it pretty good? I can get it from MicroCenter tomorrow or Sunday probably. If there is anything better, let me know because I want to do a little research before I just go buy buy buy

Going to live in the mountains and don't want a desktop anymore.

Whatever you get , get ONLY IPS Monitor.

look for IPS first.

as for resolution , look for 1920x1200 NOT 1920x1080

sna is right about that. And this one is IPS. Well pretty much right - PLS is pretty much another name for the same thing. PLS is a Samsung-built IPS (actual IPS panels are only manufactured by LG). Naturally Samsung says PLS is better, but they achieve exactly the same results.

umm 1920x1200 is way better for productivity .. and I think LG released 1920x1200 Budget ips monitor this year , I am looking. but I need to know where he lives , in EU or in USA ...

'Productivity' is what I'm using it for at work 🙂 Doesn't really matter either way - 1200 means slightly lower framerates (nothing major) and slightly more letterboxing for films/HDTV (again nothing major) but also a little more height (again nothing major). My recommendations were based not only on quality though but also pixel response. I strongly doubt you'll get as good pixel response from other budget IPS panels.

what is your Maximum Budget ?

the LG I know is in Europe only (sadly) and it is around 220$ , couldn't find it in USA.

can you tell me please your maximum budget?

How does the first one you linked compare to the VS239H-P?

$200, maybe. I wont be the one purchasing it for myself, so I dont want to go too high.

=) 1900x1200 monitors are more professional , plus they have stronger build and Pivot function. I used both for gaming and the 1900x1200 gives you more sight also in games 200 lines more up and down ..it is better :)
