The price range I'm looking for is $200 - $350. I'm looking for a nice refresh rate at around 60hz to 144hz. The response time I'm looking for is 1ms and of course the color has to be 'hella good! I'm also wondering which video cable I should get for it? (HDMI? VGA?). I'm looking for a 1080p monitor at around 24 inches. Thank you! Please let me now which monitor is best for me!

The Benq you purchased is a TN panel, and the limitations include the mediocre colors compared to the IPS panels. IPS are known for more vibrant colors, and better viewing angles. With the price of the IPS more affordable these days, TN panels are being relegated to the very bottom of the monitor market.

I linked to a good Asus IPS panel which should have much better colors.

For the connection, definitely not VGA, but HDMI or DVI are better choices.
