So as the title says, i'm looking for a good starter cpu that i can upgrade with later or even stick with the current cpu. I've been eyeing on getting a i3 6100 for $115. Wondering if there's anything better for at around that price or even cheaper? i don't want anything really over it though. as i'm just trying to build a good starter CPU

Edit: Oh sorry! I plan on looking for something that i can ease into pc gaming with.
Mostly at 1080p.
Friends want me to play games like H1Z1:King of the Kill and CS:GO. stuff like that,
if that helps any?

Solution
The i3 is good starter CPU. It will allow you to upgrade if needed and will be able to utilize DDR4. A good GPU to pair it with would be the RX 480 and for 1080P the 4gb version would be fine, just wait until the aftermarket versions come out as they run cooler and will be factory overclocked.

Thanks, I thought so. i just wanted a professional opinion. Thank you!

I was just watching a video about the new 480's.
They look pretty neat, could only find the 8gb versions though o:

i3 6100 is great as a starter GPU, it can run current games and iirc even next generation Intel Kaby Lake processors will be compatible with current 1XX series motherboards. So if you want to upgrade later- you will have a choice of these new CPUs as well as new and used Skylake generation CPUs.

The 8gb versions are only $30 more and would be worth it to get if you can fit it into your budget.
