Alright, in 2011 I bought a Dell XPS 8300 (only way to get a pc at the time, long story, settled on a
Dell just to have a pc), here is what's in it:
Intel i5 2400 (3.1 ghz quad core)
Windows 7 64 bit
12 gigs ddr3 1333
Radeon 6670
460 watt dell psu
Single 24" dell monitor, 1080p res
Part of my problem in understanding what to get is AMD has changed Radeon naming schemes twice since my 6670 was released so I've got no idea what it currently is called to compare it to anything available.
I play mostly Oblivion, Skyrim and Payday 2 and some other Steam games. I'm not looking to upgrade the psu, just the gpu so I wanted to keep the card under $200 with no extra power connector. AMD or Nvidia doesn't matter. My room can get pretty warm in the summer so the cooler it runs the better.
I was thinking the Geforce GTX 750 ti might be an option for a decent cheap boost but back to the double change on the naming scheme so I can't compare products.
Any thoughts?
All I want is another 8-12 months out of this pc, then I'm going to build a new pc for myself.
And thanks for any feedback in advance.
