Looking for a graphics cards that won't break the bank

I'm looking for a graphics card that is very good in the price range with a maximum of $300. That can play current gen games. This my first attemt at a pc build. I will upgrade components as I get more money. This build is for portability.

I know about computers(don't mine if you go describing fundamentals) but get confused when trying to compare GPUs.

I would also want to knoware the numbers and components of the GPU i should consider.

I have a Msi AM1m motherboard but im looking at a msi A88X-G45 Gaming

You need to provide information on the rest of your system before we give you an objective answer. If for example you have a low end CPU or PSU, there would be no point in recommending a GTTX970 as you may not be able to power it, or feed it enough data. Post up your specs.
