Looking for a great gaming monitor

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a very good gaming monitor for around $200 - $250.

These are my requirements:

- Full HD 1920x1080

- IPS or very good TN panel monitor

- A 5ms or below response time

- 23" - 24"

I will be using this for playing many graphics intensive games and will be plugging in an XBOX to play Call of Duty as well.

I have been looking at the BenQ RL2450HT but it does not have IPS. I have also been looking at the ASUS VG23AH but I have heard it is not very good. Lastly there is the ASUS PA238QR which is good but it does not have the best response time.

Any other suggestions would be great! Note that I am also very picky about how the monitor looks so it must be clean and beautiful

Thanks for your contribution! I don't think I will be able to get one of these because I am on a strict budget of $200 - $250 and I don't really need 27" because I am eventually going to buy 3 of whatever monitor I pick to run in Crossfire.

I like you monitors though 😉

At the moment it is between the BenQ RL2450HT and the ASUS VG23AH. I have been trying to decide between these two and their individual pros and cons.

ASUS IPS 5ms 23" $230

BenQ TN 2ms 24" $180

Both at 60Hz.

Please help if possible, honestly just give your personal opinion.

I'll leave this post over night and see what I find in the morning seeing as I am taking a trip down to NCIX tomorrow and will probably be purchasing a monitor.

If you're looking for the best 3D monitor that will also play great in 2D, then you should choose between the BenQ XL2420T and the ASUS VG278H. Both incorporate nVidia's 3D Vision 2 with 3D LightBoost which greatly improves the overall 3D experience.

While the BenQ doesn't disappoint as far as specifications with a 2ms response time, 120Hz refresh rate, low input lag, and a great picture, The XL2420T comes with a lot of other features built-in to this monitor specifically for gamers including FPS Mode, RTS Mode, Intuitive OSD, S. Switch;Height Adjustment, and Game Mode Loader.

If you just want this monitor for the 2D technology, then you might want to consider its predecessor, XL2410T, which is significantly cheaper and has many of the same features as the XL2420T, but has nVidia 3D Vision rather than 3D Vision 2.

While it's no IPS display the picture is still good bolstered by its full HD 1920×1080 resolution and 20,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio. If you're willing to go a little bit smaller and are willing to stay in the same price range, then you could also go with the Asus VE228H 21.5" monitor, which is LED, has a 7ms input lag, and 2ms response time. I am currently trying to decide between the BenQ RL2450HT and the XL2420T. Is the $100 extra for the XL2420T's 120Hz and 3D capability worth it? Two HDMI ports would be nice too. What's your take on it?
