Looking for a laptop under $1000

I recently had both my laptop and PC die on me within a week of one another. I usually build my own PC's but I have been out of the loop for over a year now and could use some help. I need a laptop now for grad school, along with playing wow, and other simulation games. I really like the idea of a 17 inch screen if possible. I have seen reasonably priced Asus gaming PCs but they appear to be a year old and I am not sure if the newer models are worth it or it there is better stuff I'm not seeing for around $1K. Any help is greatly appreciated.

hey, if you can be a little flexible with your budget, i would recommend getting one with gtx 1060. This is the cheapest i've found, though it's $1100)
