I'm very new to upgrading but I was wondering whats the best upgrade from an NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 from EVGA. My budget is minimum $100 to a max of $150. I know that with that budget it will not give me much but I would like to at least play current games and maybe some future games.

My system specs are:
Operating System
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
CPU
AMD Phenom II X4 810 121 °F
Deneb 45nm Technology
RAM
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 398MHz (6-6-6-18)
Motherboard
Gateway RS780 (AM2) 126 °F
Graphics
HX2000 (1600x900@59Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 (EVGA) 126 °F
Storage
931GB Seagate ST31000528AS ATA Device (SATA) 110 °F
931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EADS-22M2B0 ATA Device (SATA) 108 °F
Optical Drives
HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH12LS38 ATA Device
Audio
Realtek High Definition Audio

I unfortunately do not know what my PSU unit can supply. But I remember upgrading it and its not a standard power supply.

If more info is needed please let me know!!!

Thanks ScrewySqrl!! I will look into that GPU card.

Hi all, The answers provided might still be relevant but I recently had to buy a new computer to replace the one with the specs shown above so I'm going to update with what I currently have in my new system. And again if there are any relatively cheap upgrades anywhere between $100 and $150 regarding a new gpu please let me know. If its still the 750i that would be awesome. Oh and my Power Supply Unit is 700 watts!!!!

Current system specs:

Operating System
Windows 8.1 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i7 4770 @ 3.40GHz 121 °F
Haswell 22nm Technology
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. M51AC (SOCKET 1150) 83 °F

I had to buy a new computer because the one that had the Windows 7 the motherboard fried and its wasn't usable at all. I had it to get fixed and they said I'm better off getting a new computer so that's what I did.

750ti,R9 270 or the R7 265. Those seem like the best options around that price range. If you could get the r9 270 I would recommend it as it is much faster than the 750 ti for $20-30 more, unless you want to save energy then go with the 750 TI. The energy difference is so slight it dosen't really matter though.

I will look into the 750 ti and the GTX 750i since I'm more into NVIDIA not really a big fan of ATI (AMD). Thanks everyone for your input.

http:// R9 270 MSI $179.99, can perform about 20% better than the GTX 750ti :) Unless you want to get something higher then you can go for the GTX 760 at about $30 more or so. Unless you really can't go above your budget then stick to the gtx 750ti as it beats the R7 260x

Thank you so very much CAaronD for the info regarding the GPU's!!! I will look into them.

the R7 270, however, would also require a new PSU, which the 750ti will not require

Thanks screwysqrl for the added info regarding a new psu for an R7 270
