Hello! first time posting here and I've been looking around here looking for a Monitor for my MSI R9 390 and I was hoping you guys could give me some recommendations for a good gaming monitor that suits the graphics card. Nothing fancy I don't care if the screen tears one in a while I just want a monitor thats semi-decent my budget is £200 and I know little to nothing about monitors. I know about 144hz and 60hz don't know what to pick and I know resolutions such as 1080 x 1920 also I saw a post before about TN, Non-TN and TFT and what they mean but I still don't understand it so can you explain it to me in simpler terms? Thank you!

As for a 1080, you can't go wrong with an Asus, my previous monitor was a VE247 and it was great. For a good starter monitor, you really can't do better.

As for all the fancy letters like TN and IPS, its just referring to the type of exterior panel. They all have their own quirks, some are matte, some are glossy, and it helps if you have somewhere you can see the monitor in person so you can see if you like the finish.

Your primary concern should be matching the performance of the monitor to your graphics card, and with a 390, you would be good with either a 1080 at 60hz or 144hz, or maybe even a 1440 at 60hz. With a 1080/60 you should have no problem maxing most games. It depends on the kind of games you play too. If you like fast-twitch shooters, 144hz is for you. If you prefer visual fidelity, then 1440 is the way to go, although 1440 might be a bit out of your budget.
I would try and find a quality 1080/60 and go from there.
