Looking for a Monitor to match my GPUs capabilities.

So I'm shopping for a monitor. I have a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Windforce 3 OC edition 8GB 256 Bit on my Ryzen 1700X build. But my GPU says it can support 8K at 60hz. My original question is, does that mean it can support 4K at 120hz, 2K at 240hz, etc? Someone recently said "yes, but doesn't mean it can do the same while gaming"... I was hoping to find a more clear answer.

Why dont you buy Dell 21 inch 4K gaming curved monitor. It is available on amazon. Or Samsung LED TV which can run 4K. TV sits cheap but their refresh rate are low. But it doesn't show any problem.

Well I already have a Samsung 4K LED curved tv. Ive already ordered a monitor tbh. Its still in the air if I'll keep it since I judt bought one to have one. Its a refurbished Acer Predator 144hz 1080p with G Sync. But what I really want to know is how the division of those resolutions and refresh rates effect gaming as you go down the line as that person told me. Remember his answer was very vague.
