And even with higher cards you need x99 or x299 motherboard with cpu that have 28+ pcie lanes for running 3 cards, as you cant use sli with only 4x.
nVidia no longer supports anything beyond 2 way SLI. Many games will not even launch if you have a 3way SLI setup running. You would be much better off getting a single 1080 or 1080ti as you wont have to deal with performance scaling issues.
