Looking for a motherboard to go with parts that I have

So far, I have these components currently in hand, and I'm looking into finishing this build asap so I can start gaming on it;

ASUS Graphic Card GTX660-DC2O-2GD5

AMD FX 6300 processor

Apevia X sniper 2 case with a Rosewill Stallion Series 600W Power Supply RD600

Now this is the part where I can use some advice-

I was getting the MSI Motherboard North Bridge AMD 970 & South Bridge AMD SB950 Chipset ATX DDR3 800 AMD AM3+... It was in the mail and the package got lost...but i got the refund and was about to re order it, when a friend that has been working with computers a lot longer than I, said it was not the way to go...and started listing off a bunch of different mobos... basically now I'm confused at what makes a good motherboard...and what will go with what I have right now

I will recommend to buy the ASUS MB, like Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 (lower side), or Asus M5A97 R2.0 ( better one), and the best one is Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0, because the ASUS is better MB for the AMD FX series CPU.
