I recently built my new rig, which consists of the AMD 3700 sandy, Corsair twinx 2x512 at 2.5-3-3-6-1T, and an Antec 500W power supply. The motherboard I chose was the Asus A8N5X, it was the cheapest Asus mobo with socket 939. MY goal was to hit atleast 3.0 GHz, as I heard it was done on a couple of forums. With these components I was able to get 2.85 GHz at the most, at the cost of running my ram at only 100 MHz instead of its potential 225. Its bothering me as I have everything I need to hit that 3.0, just the mother board that drawing me back. So I'm going to buy a new motherboard, and this time i want to make sure its possible to hit 3.0 with it, but dont want to spend more than 200 CAN.

Any help would be appreciated, I hear DFI mobos are great for overclocking, but I want some Tom's Hardware input.

I have been running an EPOX 9NPA+ Ultra for a year now (my friend too) and its a great board with a lot of OC capability. Its cheaper than the DFI boards not to mention. I would give it a try. When we bought it a year ago it even came with round cables and some mini heat sinks as well as some other little things of less consequence. When I was running a 3000+ venice I was able to OC to a 245 fsb pretty easily. No increases in voltage were needed. Thats a mild OC but it was very easily attained and was stable.
