Looking for a new cpu to go with a GTX 950 superclocked

I am currently looking for a cpu upgrade from my AMD Athlon X4 860K which is starting to underperform, to where in games like fortnite and GTA 5 where I am having to lower graphics for 100+ frames, so I am looking for a (Max $150ish, the lower the better) to go with my GTX 950. By the way I am completely fine with scrapping the FM2+ socket motherboard that I am using, and buying a new one to go with the new cpu

you would already lose 100 dollars on new ddr4 ram, another 130 for a new cpu and on top of that another 80 dollars for a motherboard.

Unfortunately for ~$150ish you can't get much mate. Only meaningful upgrades will mean a new mobo+ram+cpu. You can always look around for special deals or bundles but also keep in mind that spending a tad more now will mean you won't need to upgrade down the line. For intel you could go for an 8th gen i3 (or even better an i5 8400) with a budget board or if you prefer AMD the ryzen line is amazing value.

Also, you have an unlocked CPU. Just overclock it to 4.3 or 4.4 with a decent air cooler.

The GTX950 would be a 720P card at best in any game made in the last few years, which is why framerates increase as graphic details are dropped. Look for a GTX1050/1050 Ti. Unfortunately, the X4's are outperformed by anything starting with 'i' even if it were running 1 GHz slower, so, a CPU/RAM/MB upgrade needs to be pending as well....

I wouldnt bother moving to a better platform unless you plan to go for a gpu better than a 950.

If you do plan to go for higher end gpus, then the best value option would be something like a Ryzen 2400G Or 2600.
