So I recently got a new computer. I need help choosing between displays though. I want to ask if any one can tell the difference between 5/6ms or 1ms. If any one can tell the difference between tn and ips At least for the ones I will list. And if I should get 1920x1080 or spend the extra $100-200 on 2560x1440. I would like to spend as little money on this as possible but I also want to get one that I will be fine with for a few years. Also I am getting this for specifically Gaming. These are the 4 that I am looking at ( http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/compare/acer-monitor-umhx2aa001%2Cacer-monitor-umvh6aa003%2Casus-monitor-pb278q%2Casus-monitor-vg248qe/ ) Thank you for reading.

well if you want a display specifically for gaming
go with the Asus VG248 QE

the main difference between IPS and TN is that IPS has better color accuracy
that is all
and hence the premium price for better color
but it also has certain drawbacks
slower response times and slower refresh rates
not that IPS panels dont have better response times ans refresh rates
but you have to pay a premium for that too

what you are looking for in a gaming monitor is
1) resolution- 1080 or higher
2) response time- 1 ms
3) refresh rate- 120/144 Hz

what what slower response times do is they get rid of the ghosting( for example the trail you notice behind your cursor is due to slow response times)

and as for refresh rate it is the number of times a...

There are some TN panels where color corrections is done well. It is arguable that TN panels are very good. I have it, Im used to it. I have an IPS panel as well as my second monitor, I prefer to game on the TN panel though.

so say a 60Hz display will be able to display a maximum of 60 frames per second

and as for the 1440p monitor you could go for it
but you need a powerful system for it to play at decent fps
id suggest you stick to the 1080p
the Asus VG 248QE is a good choice
and you could also consider a BenQ XL 2411Z
its got the same specs
it all comes down to personal choice between the two

I have the asus strix gtx 970 oc. So I am pretty sure I can run 1440p. I just want the best and cheapest monitor I can get. I think I might go with the Asus VG248QE Though because of the response and refresh rate. Also because it has a display port and speakers if I want don't feel like using my headset for something(I know it is probably bad speakers though). And do you know if when the monitor says it is 3d ready, does that mean that it has the base built in to it(For nVidia cards) or does that just mean the refresh rate is high enough? And Thank you for replying. You were very informative.

anytime man
well if 50-60 frames is okay with you then might as well okay with a 1440
but once you play at 80+ average frames
anything running slower seems unplayable

and like i said it all personal choice between the asus and benq
go for the asus
yes the speakers on it are pathetic
almost unusable

and as for 3d they are just 3D ready
you have to buy separate equipment i.e 3D transmitter and glasses to turn them into 3D
and also need 120+ average frames for games
