I am looking for a new graphics card for my PC. This is my current one.

I am not very smart when it comes to computer hardware and so I don't exactly know what is best for me. I'm looking to smoothly play things like Fallout 4 and upcoming 2016 games. My current PC seems to lag a bit when playing Fallout 4 and sometimes it can get pretty bad. Any help is appreciated.

Hi again,
I'd probably suggest this - the Nvidia GTX 970. I think this is the best 1080p card that you can get. Granted some will say that it's for 1440p and maybe so - it will definitely play titles at 1440p. But I'm thinking a year down the line. You mention you have a 1080p monitor. That's going to last you no doubt. And as titles get more advanced, keeping it at the max resolution at max settings is what you'll want.

It comes in JUST under budget with the rebate. I've double checked your PSU:

I tried to find your case's dimensions and I found the overall, but not...
Hey,
We can certainly offer advice. Could we have the specs of your system?
- CPU
- Motherboard
- RAM
- Power Supply

All of these will play a part in helping us suggest an upgrade. Could we as well have a budget - how much are you willing to spend?

Finally, what is the resolution of your monitor? That too will play a big part in what we can advise for you :)

Here are my specs
CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory: Kingston Blu Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 270 2GB TurboDuo Video Card
Case: Thermaltake VL80001W2Z ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

I'm willing to spend up to around 200-300 on an upgrade and my monitor has a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Thanks for the help.

I tried to find your case's dimensions and I found the overall, but not how much room it has - before you buy, I suggest checking how much of a gap you have for graphics cards - by my calculations, you need 11 inches.

Let me know if this card is too expensive - this is the cheapest model and as I say comes just under the top end of your budget.

Solution

go into the catalyst control center, and override tessellation to 4x

turn off god rays

lower view distances

your cpu is too weak for the fancy stuff in fallout 4
