Looking for a new monitor for new gaming PC

Hey all. So, I could use some hardware suggestions regarding the purchase of a new monitor.

I'm using a 24 inch Syncmaster-p2450h monitor right now, however I've recently ordered a customized gaming PC which has a pair of Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB graphics cards, and I'm thinking my current monitor won't give me the full benefit of showing just what these cards can do (Correct me if I'm wrong)

As far as monitors go, I'm not really sure what I should be looking for to get the best visuals for what I can currently afford.

If it helps any, the graphics cards max res 5120x3200 and video output :1 x DVI, 1 x HDMI/mHDMI, 1 x Display Port

I've got a total budget of roughly £250 for a new monitor. I could stretch to £300 if I wait a month or so. I'm somewhat limited on desk space (I've got an IKEA Fredde workstation) so I can't really go beyond 29 inches (To go up to a 32 inch I'd have to remove the shelf)

Any suggestions or recommendations in regards to a new monitor for my coming gaming PC would be welcome. Please note that I'm in the UK if that has any bearing on cost conversations or availability.

Thanks.

For GTX970/R9 390, stick with 1080p if you wanna have high fps with mostly max everything. GTX970 will become a budget solution for 1440p on new AAA games e.g. Witcher 3.
I know, I've been there....I had to get the second GTX970 for my XB270HU.

Could take a look at this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QNIX-QX2710-Multi-TRUE10-27-LED-Evolution-II-2560x1440-DVI-QHD-HDMI-Monitor-/311421983600?hash=item4882325b70:g:mhcAAOSwHnFVyUK~

The only downside is you need to buy from Korea but it is a great price and the monitor can be overclocked to 96+Hz and have heard some go as high as 120Hz.
