Hello as i already have a pc that i will be buying i need another monitor currently im using ACER 24" 1080p 60Hz and i need some good advice on which one will be better i want to get 1440p but i dont know if its worth it to get with 144hz or 60hz i read that with 144hz is for most of competitive games like Cs go battlefield but mostly i play open world games like Arma 3 Gta V Doom ARK but i do sometimes play cs go battlefield with a friends just for fun

My system will be
i5 8600k
MSI - Z370-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
500gb SSD
2TB HDD
16gb ram 3200mhz
gtx 1070 Ti
Corsair - TXM Gold 550W 80+ Gold

Solution
Well the main thing, 60hz is still good, 60 isn't bad, but even if games say 120 fps you are still only getting 60 fps because the refresh rate. Having a 144hz monitor just lets you get that many frames, its worth it if you game a lot with FPS games and all that, but if you play big RPG games or open world, you don't need 144fps/144hz that much, 60 is still great. There is a difference though, my friend has a 144hz, I have a 60hz and a 75hz monitor, and compared to his, his is much smoother looking. Its kinda like looking at 30fps video compared to 60fps, theres a noticeable difference (but not to all)

So, really, you don't need it, but if you want and can actually reach over 140ps, then get the 144hz, its smoother than 60, but again 60 is still good.

so the best thing is to go with 1440p 60hz because im not planning to play competitive games all the time i like more so the quality looks better just thinking if there is another difference then palying competitive games on 144hz monitor

Yeah I wouldn't spend a bunch of money on a 144hz if you aren't that much of a competitive player.

The main difference like I said is it will refresh more, it will look smoother, much smoother, because you are basically doubling the frames you can see by upping the refresh rate
