Hey!

After recently putting together a new build the ASUS Maximus Formula I bought has never worked after a couple of days arguing over the phone to them aswel as the retailer I'm out of pocket. I'm wondering what you guys would recommend as a replacement? I'm looking to spend say £150 - £250.

I'll be using an i7 4770k, EVGA 970 ftw and 16g ddr3 ram which I don't mind switching out.

Thanks in advance!!

Which Asus Maximus Formula ?

The over-riding issue is ... if you are using an OEM Windows OS it is keyed to the motherboard, and migrating to a higher-level chipset is highly frowned upon (violation of your EULA). I.E., a z77 motherboard to z97 would violate those terms requiring you to purchase a new OS.

Further example: If your motherboard is the Asus Maximus V, you would be limited to the Sandies/Ivies, and it would likely be in the best interest of your wallet to simply sell the i7-4770K and purchase a Core i7-3770K.
