Alright. So, without going into too much detail, I'm going through a fairly extensive upgrade for my rig. I have pretty much every part I need now except for the power supply unit. I need some help picking one out. The one I have my eye on is this one:

I'll be running an AMD R9 290 4GB, an AMD FX-8350 8 core 4.0 on an ASUS M5A78L-M Motherboard. Would that be a good power supply for this build? My concern is that is says it has 8-pin(6+2) PCI-E connectors. But on the 290, it looks like it has (please, please correct me if I'm wrong) a 6-pin connector? I really don't know anything about PSUs. All I really know is that Corsair is a good manufacturer.

So yeah, any suggestions, advice, confirmation, etc. would be welcome and helpful.
Thank you in advance.

so on the PSU PCIe cable, there is a 6 pin plug and then on an extra length of wire, another 2 pin plug, some GPU's need the extra bit find an 800w psu in your price range and hey presto you are good to go, the corsair site has a chart where you can compare models and decide which will be best for you :)

OK, OK. Still a little confused, and I realized I maybe should clarify. My 290 has an 8-pin connector and a 6-pin connector (I'm literally just counting the number of slots here). I think I want to go at least a minimum of 750 watts. I was looking at the 850 wattage just in case I wanted to upgrade somewhere down the line.

My main concern is that I don't want to buy a PSU that doesn't have the cables that are going to connect to my card.

What about something like this?

so will need to use 2 PCIe plugs, one of the will need the extra little 2 plugged in, they are on like an little inch of wire of the end of the 6 pin plug

So are you saying that I will be fine with most PSUs?
I found this in another thread:
"Generally R 290's require 1x 6pin & 1x 8pin supplementary power. The CXM 600 has 2x 6+2 pin's, which is fine. "

I'm not looking at the CXM 600 or whatever, but should I just go for something with a couple of 6+2 pins?

yes each card you get of that model will need two each to power it.

Alright. So is what you're saying, is that if my card's connectors look like this:

I would be able to hook it up to most power supply units I could buy? Including the one I linked above?

yep, one 6 pin would obviously go in the 6 hole port, and for the 8 you would put the 6 pin plug on the left then add the little 2 pin to the 2 remaining holes
