I currently have a ASUS Crosshair V Mobo with a X-fi sound card onboard, although ive heard its not really an x-fi as it comes with just general realtek audio.

I have Klipsch 2.1 promedia speakers and i'm looking into getting a nice set of headphones around 200$-300$ soon.
Any ideas on what soundcard would give me the greatest increase in sound quality from what i already have?
I use my computer for videos, music, and gaming.
I've been looking at the HTC Claro II and HTC Omega Striker
Any opinions and suggested would be greatly appreciated.

The first question: Are you going to get high impedance headphones? If so, then a soundcard with a headphone amp is a must.

The best deal might be the ASUS Xonar Xense + PC350 combo. While there are better headphones then the PC350 (which are still very good, but not great), the Xense is a top tier soundcard by itself, so this might be the cheapest option for both a soundcard headset.

I'm just looking for a soundcard right now in the 100$-200$ range, the headphones i'll snag later
