So its time to upgrade my hard drive and i was considering these two:

1) Travelstar 1TB 7,200 RPM SATA 6.0Gbps 2.5" Internal Hard Drive Kit 0S03563
(note, on amazon etc this drive is listed as having 16mb cache but actually has 32 as per amazon.com comments and from their own website if you click on the box: http://www.hgst.com/mobile-retail-kits)

my other option might be a smaller drive, but something that has been reviewed with good results:

2) Western Digital Scorpio Black WD7500BPKT 750GB 7200 RPM RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive
---- this drive has been reviewed here on tomshardware with good reviews.

they are the same price.....mind you 250gb more in the travelstar would be cool but not worth a performance decrease .

looking for performance here within the two drives, not taking into account the size difference.

Have a look on Seagate Momentum Hybrid drives http://www.seagate.com/internal-hard-drives/laptop-hard-drives/laptop-solid-state-hybrid-drive/. On my aging laptop, it really made a difference - having a lot of storage, with good performance.

When upgrading your laptop - check to see whether you need 9.5mm or 7mm drive.
