Looking for A QUIET PSU

Hi, I had a OCZ Modxstream 400W for my system but i broke it...
so im looking for something quiet, i thought the ocz was quite noisy with its yate loon fan...

right now im using a Antec 380W (20pin), very quiet compared to the OCZ....

any suggestion for a power supply ( 24pin )?

A detailed system spec would've been better.. As for current, your listed PSU's point towards a not so power hungry system so i'd suggest a corsair VX series PSU ( preferably the VX 450 )

the one i have is a very old one used it for 3-4 years already... and cables are a mess .... and its a 20pin only

It would mean a lower load on the psu which would lead to less heat and lower fan speeds, which would mean less noise.

i had the same thoughts as pointed out by DellUser1 behind recommending the VX 450..

the wattage calculator gives me something around 260W... so 380 is high enough.. i think..

the ocz was running at 1400rpm, its lowest speed, and it was noisy...

In general, it is hard to fault the Corsair or seasonic units. If you get a unit that is a bit stronger than what you need, the fan will not be very active, making it quieter.

What Geo said.... well with a qualifier.....while the Corsair's are excellent electrically, they have yet to break into the Editor's Choice list at silentpcreview.com because of their acoustical performance, while good enough to make the "Recommended List" doesn't quite make the EC list. For gamers, it generally doesn't matter as they have their surround sound systems blaring.

Well if the 380W Antec is running fine then keep using it.

I have a Corsair 400CX which is nearly silent.My friends 450VX is also barely audible.

The new Antec Earthwatts PSUs are 80+ bronze, which means they don't create a lot of waste heat, and their fans run quietly. I just put the 380W version into my Mom's PC this weekend, and had to double-check that it was on since I couldn't hear it.

Sizing a PSU can be very simple. The PSU needs is almost entirely gated by the graphics cards unless you have an unusual number of devices to attach. Just get one with sufficient 6/8 pin pci-e connectors for your graphics configuration.

In this case the 380 watt unit is working fine, so keep using it.
