Hello, new to PC building here, was planning to build my very first PC by Black Friday. I'm currently stuck on trying to find a good, reliable WIFI Adapter, because my motherboard does not have onboard WIFI, and my router is downstairs not able to use an ethernet cord because want to place my pc in my own room. I've been researching for a while now for WIFI Adapters, both PCI-E and USB, and I could not seem to find a fairly good Wireless Adapter without problems with Windows 10, especially with the "Fall Creator's Update" and a bunch of other errors. I've looked at the Asus PCIE AC 56 and the AC 68 which many complained of not working after the update. And the Asus USB AC68 who also had a lot of problems with disconnecting. So basically, I found that most adapters (not just Asus) had a bunch of problems with the drivers and overall connectivity after the update. Can someone please, please recommend me a bunch of WIFI cards in 2018 that won't let me down after I spend money on it? It could be ones you use or recommend with Windows 10 support. (Don't mind if PCIE or USB) Thanks.

Preference :
- I really want an adapter that has good range just because my room is a floor and a wall up from the router. Decently fast, can handle me gaming and streaming. Don't know anything about WIFI connections overall so lets just say a wireless connection that is fairly close to having it wired.

-This is my own preference, but if it is a PCI-E card. I would like it in Black or Red, or any color that is not ugly and popping out (like green). Because it would match my build.

I'm not an expert on what's going to fit in yoour Pci E slots or PCi but these two options seem pretty reliable and the first is quite good value.

Picking will also depend on router. Is your router a 450Mbit (N900) capable router. If not then the faster card will not do anything. The three antennas on the higher priced card means that it can handle 3 150Mibt streams from your router simultaneously. But if your router is a 150Mbit router that would be the limit. Only one of the three antennas on the card can be used this is...

If your primary use is gaming I would consider powerline units instead of wifi. Thing like av2-1200 units tend to work very well in most houses....there are those rare ones they don't unfortantly.

Wifi even if you have strong signals is subject to interference which causes lag spikes in games. Powerline has much more consistent latency which is extremely important for games. Wifi if you can get enough signal work ok for almost every other application.
