on the old hp mb is a service part number google that part number. to see if the mb is out there. the hp restore disk and windows wont boot. as posted above not the same mb. hp restore cd look for hp bios to work. if you have a spare drive use windows media creation tool make a new windows 7 usb stick. install windows 7 on temp hard drive. once your in pull your files off the good hard drive then reinstall windows on the old drive then move the files back.

Ok. The issue with using a new motherboard from a different manufacturer is that Windows does not like move between them. I would return that Gigabyte board and purchase an HP motherboard that is an exact duplicate of the one you have now. Your old motherboard should have a model number listed on it as well. If you can find it could you post it?

If you can not locate the board as a replacement then you’re in a hard place. Replacing a proprietary board with it’s own power delivery system would be impossible with a standard motherboard. If you can find another HP 8100 for sale then I would say buy it and swap out the hard drives.
