Looking for a USB/ethernet camera that gives raw unompressed images (not necessarily footage)

Hi

Most webcams compress their video feed onboard or at the driver level. This means that they can't give an uncompressed image, even a still.

I don't necessarily need a video feed, but I need maximum detail from some monitoring cameras I plan to set up.

My question is: Does anyone know of any cameras that can offer uncompressed still or videos while being in the budget range of a normal webcam?

What is a "normal" webcam budget to you? My guess, is that you would need some type of industrial camera to get what you want.

$50 maximum?

For $50, you might be able to find a used point-and-shoot camera that you can control via USB. But, I can't think of another obvious option.
