Hey,

I'm currently having to connect to a BT Open Zone spot the actual hotspot is located next door, I'd say the router where the hotspot actually comes from is maybe about 50-60 feet away? And potential there is 2-3 walls between my PC and the hotspot. Currently I'm using an old phone as a WiFi adaptor to connect but it drops out a lot and ping is also bad in some games I play - so I'm in the market for a long range WiFi adaptor that can handle a fair amount of bandwidth and get good signal strength, not sure if it is worth mentioning the router where the Open Zone spot comes from is a BT router - any advice on what type of adaptor to get, with specs/links would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

I would look at a outdoor directional bridge from a company like ubiquiti or engenius. These are really meant for point to point connections outside but because they are directional they concetrate all the signal in one direction. This still may not be enough, the exterior walls on some houses block signal very well. You could put it outside and run a cable in, it would be one less exterior wall but this will all depend how much signal is getting out of the neighbors house.

It is strange when you want to use the signal it is never strong enough but when you don't want it then it is so strong it interferes with your own router. WiFi is strange.
Thank's for the response, I am unsure on the router and what model it is as it is a neighbours, the BT openzone is emitted from it though, still need help with this question if anyone else can help.
