A few months ago I got a Donkey Kong Jr. cocktail machine that has been
converted into a Perfect Billiard. Unfortunately it doesn't work (fires
up but gobbildy-beloved patriot on the screen, even with freshly burned ROMs) and
I am not sure which route to go.
I can go one of three ways and I am curious if anyone can convince me
which way to go.

1) I can fix the machine and restore it to an original Donkey Kong Jr.
That's going to be costly because the monitor has a lot of burn and
from the way the guts look, I think I need to redo a lot of the
circuits if I want to restore it. Have a look:

2) I can MAME it but I know that is a bit of a waste of such an
important machine. Besides, I would need to put an LCD monitor in there
and that's as expensive as getting a replacement video screen if I
restore it.

3) Maybe there are some of those JAMMA or 9 in 1 type boards that are
usable in a cocktail machine? If so that would be a happy medium for
me. I can keep it as a properly working arcade machine plus I'm not
limitted to a single game. Pacman, Galaga, etc. would be nice extras to
have. Then again the orientation of the screen is "landscape" not
"portrait" so Pacman and Galaga wouldn't work.

Suggestions? Right now it's just sitting around doing nothing.

I'd go with #2 or #3. DK Jr cocktail is just not worth enough to restore
from scratch like that. I don't see much difference between option 2 and 3.
I don't think its a waste of an important machine, because I don't think its
that important. As far as multi-game vs mame, I'm assuming the setup would
be the same, its just a question of wether you have an emulation board
hooked up to the jamma harness, or a jpac connected to a computer running an
emulator. Neither one is any more or less of a crime than the other. Not
sure why you'd need to put an LCD monitor in it though.

What about #4:

Buy a working perfect billiards PCB and sell off that POS cabinet.

I'd go with option 4
