HI all,

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card since mine is the weakest link in my current pc, and was looking for some advice. I really just want to play new games smoothly at 1920x1080 res. I am looking at getting a gtx 970 if its worth it considering the rest of my pc. If the rest of my pc is going to be a bottleneck, then I probably wouldn't want to spend that much, and maybe look at getting a cheaper card. Here are my current specs:

i5 3.4ghz overclocked to 4.6ghz
radeon hd 5850 (1gb I think)
gigabyte Z68AP-D3 motherboard
8gb DDR3 ram
corsair 600w PSU
500gb 10k RPM HDD

When people are new to the PC Master Race they don't know what is important and isn't. When I built my first computer I had a i7-920 Cause I wanted to play Crysis on Ultra... Little did I know CPU had almost nothing to do with it thank god my GPU was beefy enough.

But considering most of us PC Master Race, as you put it, are running i5's at a similar or lesser speed, it makes one wonder why so many ask. Not to mention the bottleneck question for i5's comes up multiple times in a day. I doubt even my 3.5ghz i5 2400 would have issues with a GTX 970.
