About to purchase my first build, I thought it would be best to check with your experienced selves before I press submit order. The build is intended for 1080p gaming at a hopeful 60 fps. Thank you for your time.

Solution
Save on the motherboard.

If you're not using an unlocked CPU, there's no need for a Z97 board. Go for a H97 chipset one and get a dual channel RAM kit.
But what happens when I want to upgrade in the future? Z97 surely ensures that? And I have a single 8gb because I plan on leaving space for another 8gb for future upgrades if it's ever needed.
