I want to purchase a Skylake i7 CPU in the future for a computer build, but I only found one Mobo that has native USB type C. Looking for advice on if I should wait, what everyone's thoughts are on USB C, as well as clarification on some technical aspects.

Hello,

I'm in the process of building a computer for Audio Production, saving up little each month to buy select components. This is my first computer build, and while I know a decent amount about PCs, I'm relatively a novice compared to people on this forum.

I have recently purchased a Fractal R5, and a PC Power and Cooling Silencer MK iii PSU. I plan on picking up a SSD and HDD next. Beyond that, I was looking at the Intel Skylake i7 6700k for the CPU.

However, my dilemma is that I am not sure if I should pull the trigger just yet on a CPU or Motherboard, since USB type C is right around the corner, and that seems like it might be a big deal. Or not, I don't know, what's your opinion on that?

Would the Skylark CPU be compatible with USB type C, or is that completely dependant on the motherboard? I only found 1 motherboard that supports the Skylake chip that has a USB C port. Should I wait until more motherboards emerge that support Skylake CPUs and have USB C?

I'm sure that USB C will be more widely available as PCI down the road. That said, is there a difference in performance if it would be installed in a PCI slot vs if it is native to the motherboard?

Thanks very much for any assistance you could lend to this diatribe.

There are no devices that usb c so either way you end up waiting. Wait too long and then you'll be waiting for skylake-e around march. LoL

As for which works better - doesn't matter whether its integrated to the motherbd or, both ways it uses lanes from the pcie sub-system to connect to the chipset. As you can see int he z1780 diagram, there is no usb-c directly from the chipset:
