Hello,
I'm wondering if I should run my RAM on 'Profile 1' on my BIOS (1600mHz) or let it run it's standard (1096mHz). The RAM i have is rated at 1600mHz, and am confused at the downclock.

would I crisp the RAM if I reset it to 1600mHz?
I'm running a watercooled CPU (Corsair H80) with the rest of the case aircooled (Thermaltake Overseer) and a 1200W PSU.

Solution
1600 ram is standard speed ram that canbe overclocked to 1600. It will default to standard speed to let you get into the bios in the first place.
Running at 1600 will look wonderful on synthetic ram benchmarks. But, on modern intel cpu's higher speed ram makes almost no difference in actual app performance or fps. On amd, a bit more difference.
For example:

My take is to leave it alone and not bother.

GA-X79-UD5 is my motherboard. I ask if it will damage it ONLY because my BIOS has, at stock, knocked it down over 0.5gHz.
